The Very Best of the Noughties

The Best Albums of the Decade

Rules and Regulations
  • This is not an ordered list.
  • Only complete albums considered. The whole thing has to be good, not just a few songs.
  • Only one album per artist.
  • The album has to be very good... not just goodish or good. 5 Stars. Outstanding. Etc, etc, etc.
  • If my iPod had limited space, these would definetively be on it.
  • I have got to love it.
The List

Antonia Font - Taxi*
* Yes, Taxi. I'm more of a Taxi fan than Alegria. Same thing with The Joshua Tree vs Achtung Baby. But I've swapped sides before, so maybe in 2020 I'd like Alegria better.
Manel - Els Millors Professors Europeus
Sufjan Stevens - Illinoise
Emiliana Torrini - Love in the Time of Science
The New Pornographers - Twin Cinema
Interpol - Turn On The Bright Lights
The Arcade Fire - Funeral
Josh Ritter - Hello Starling
The Thermals - The Body, The Blood, The Machine
Kevin Johansen - Sur o No Sur
Verdena - Il Suicidio Dei Samurai

Honorable Mentions

Radiohead - In Rainbows*
* In Rainbows is superb and should really deserve a palce in the Best Albums category... but I just can't get "OK Computer" out of my head.
The National - Boxer*
* Almost, almost, almost made it to the Best Of. Mmmmmm...
Carmen Consoli - Un Sorso In Più*
* Unfortunatedly it's a concert with material from different albums, so it breaks the rules, so it gets to be listed here.
The Hold Steady - Boys And Girls In America*
* I'm not really considering only this CD... but the whole work of The Hold Steady. If they had a "best of", it would definetively be on the Best Of category... but then it would break the rules.
Lily Allen - Smile
